We’re Working Hard: In Our Studio and In Our Community
Massage Studio is an independently-owned small business, with locations of both sides of the bridge. Like many small businesses, we were completely closed for more than six weeks due to COVID-19. We are so grateful for the community we’ve cultivated at Massage Studio and the generosity and warmth of our guests.
Our business relies on the patronage of our guests, especially our loyal members, who pay monthly dues for regular massages. When April membership became due, we offered our members options: keep their membership active and use it when we reopened; suspend their membership temporarily, or donate that month’s massage to a deserving healthcare worker.
We were completely awestruck by the response as many of our members chose to generously donate. We matched the generous donations one-for-one, resulting in a grand total of 230 massage gift certificates—with a value exceeding $20,000—to healthcare workers at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa and St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
One of our members, Debbie, said it best, "I was so pleasantly surprised when the email from Massage Studio came through offering to donate my monthly massage during the shutdown but I was even more blown away that they were matching the donations. This thoughtfulness is the reason I am a proud member of Massage Studio."
We are so excited to see these healthcare workers in our studios to receive the massage therapy they so deserve. Jessica, a nurse at St. Anthony’s, told us, "These past few months have been difficult but WOW! I was so appreciative of this offer and it is so nice to know that businesses in my community appreciate the work that we are doing. I can't wait to get my massage and finally relax."
