St. Pete Employee Spotlight: Johnny L.
Meet Johnny, one of our longest running Massage Therapists at our St. Pete location! Johnny’s dedication to the wellness of his clients and to our team is unmatched, he genuinely cares about the wellbeing and happiness of others. We recently asked Johnny a few questions about his experience working with us:
How long have you been in the massage industry, and how long specifically with Massage Studio?
I graduated from the Cortiva Institute of Massage at the beginning of 2018 and have been working here at Massage Studio since then.
What inspired you to start a career in massage?
My interest in holistic medicine as preventative medicine and a way of healing yourself and being more in-tune with your body, rather than strictly confiding in western medicine and the pharmaceutical industry.
What are your massage specialty areas?
I find myofascial release techniques to be most beneficial so I tend to employ plenty of myofascial holds and stretches in all of my massages to release restrictions in the fascia (a type of connective tissue encompassing all other tissue in the body).
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The gratification that comes with making a real positive difference in the relationship people have with their bodies. Just helping people feel better and taking some tension out of the world.
What made you choose Massage Studio?
The kind and professional people who work behind the scenes to keep the studio running efficiently and appropriately. The pleasing esthetics of the studio itself. And of course the fact that it's biking distance from home and not far from the water.
How has Massage Studio supported your career goals?
By providing a safe and calming atmosphere for conducting quality massages, allowing me to really connect with guests and do my best work. And by allowing me a flexible enough schedule to continue my education on things related to healing and massage therapy.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like being outdoors the most. Riding my bicycle and getting better at skateboarding while jamming out to some cool playlists. I would love to learn how to surf, and enjoy laying on hammocks when I can. I also enjoy traveling to the mountains and going hiking.
I love meeting new people from different cultures and all walks of life whether in person or online. I also enjoy watching and reading sci-fi, writing, sketching, and dancing. I also take time to learn about anthropology, psychology and social issues. For me, It’s about testing my limits, but also just laying on my couch with my cat. Oh, and you can’t forget eating.
