St. Pete Employee Spotlight: Katie M.
Meet Katie, our Lead Trainer at our St. Pete location! Our team would not be the same without her, she definitely helps make the work day a lot more efficient for our team and our guests. We recently asked Katie a few questions about her experience working with us:
How long have you been in the massage industry, and how long specifically with Massage Studio?
I've been working in the beauty & wellness industry since 2010, and became a licensed massage therapist in 2017. I started with Massage Studio in February of 2019.
What inspired you to start a career in massage?
To make a long story short, I wanted to be able to offer the same thing to others that I received from massage. Once you find something that gives you that "ahhh" moment of zen, you want to share it with the world.
What are your massage specialty areas?
I love working with guests who are just beginning their self care journey or guests who may have had a bad experience with deep tissue massage in the past. Building trust with your practitioner allows them to help bridge the mental gap between pressure and pain relief.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Getting to shut out everything else that's going on in the world and just focus on being present with the person that's on my table for the next hour or so.
What made you choose Massage Studio?
I worked in the corporate massage world before finding Massage Studio. What initially appealed to me about MSS was the fact that it's a small, woman-owned business. Beyond that, I've come to really appreciate the core group of co-workers I see everyday when I come in, especially our Assistant Manager, Dani :)
How has Massage Studio supported your career goals?
I was only one year into my massage career when I started at Massage Studio, and I was nervous to leave my comfort zone & do anything outside of just the basic Swedish & deep tissue modalities. Working here has given me the support I've needed to confidently pursue other modalities, like prenatal massage.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love being on the water in any capacity. I lived in Nashville for about 6 years before moving back to St. Pete, so I have a renewed appreciation for the ocean & try to spend as much time there as possible.
What does a perfect day off look like to you?
Partly cloudy blue skies, with lots of dogs running around a sandy beach, a cooler full of Yuenglings and Publix popcorn chicken, and a loud speaker playing all the jams.
What have you learned from working at Massage Studio?
My worth!
