Unconventional Ways to Show Someone You Love Them
It’s that time of year again! If you couldn’t tell from the rows of heart-shaped chocolate boxes and red roses available at your grocery store, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! While a classic gesture of love in the form of flowers and chocolate is always sweet—an unconventional gesture might be the perfect thing to make this year’s special day a lot more exciting!
We’ve divided our ideas based on some of the most popular love languages. These “languages” are based on the various ways that you might show your loved ones (or yourself) that they are loved and cared for!
Physical Touch
The Gift of Massage
Is your partner always asking for a massage and you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing? Could your best friend use some much needed time to relax? If so, help us work our magic by providing them with a gift card! We offer a range of massages varying from our calming Swedish massage, Deep Tissue Relief, Hot Stone, Prenatal, and more. In addition, your lucky Valentine will be able to tailor their visit to their desires with complimentary add-ons, such as your choice of music, aromatherapy, table temperature, and massage products. Whether you’re celebrating Galentine’s or Valentine’s this year, skip the flowers and give the gift of massage!
Quality Time
The Morean Arts Center
While a date to the art gallery is always a great idea, The Morean Arts Center offers a chance for you and your loved one to get even closer, by making some of the art yourself! On select dates, glassblowing classes are offered for couples and range from designing and molding your very own heart of glass, glass mugs, flowers, paperweights, and more! You can even purchase gift cards or book up to five couples if you’re looking to make this a hot double date!
The Saint Speakeasy
If you’re looking to spice up your typical “dinner and drinks date” then we know just the place for you. The Saint Speakeasy is St. Pete’s first true speakeasy, and, unlike a noisy sports bar, they pride themselves on providing an intimate, conversation-focused atmosphere. But don’t worry, the fun is endless. To be granted access you must know the secret password (which updates every week). Then once you’re seated, a wide range of craft cocktails and small bites will be available. The speakeasy dazzles its visitors not only with bubbling and steaming cocktails but also with its romantic and mysterious aesthetic. Beware, you just might have too much fun.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium
For some, quality time is best spent outdoors. Go on an adventure together with the Clearwater Aquarium’s wildlife tours! From February 13th to February 15th their Dolphin and Wildlife Boat Tours will be Valentine’s Day-themed—and will include sweet treats and trivia on St. Pete’s animal inhabitants and how they “love” in the wild! However, if a boat tour is not your thing, there is still a wide range of experiences to choose from!
Acts of Service
A Year of Brunches
If you and your loved one prefer to stay indoors this Valentine’s Day, show them how much you care by offering them a year’s worth of brunches—The Chef’s Hat’s latest cookbook offers 52 weeks of brunch recipes so you can bring the restaurant-style dishes into the comfort of your own home! Nothing quite says “I love you” like breakfast in bed, right?
Woodie’s Wash Club
For the person in your life who loves their car almost as much as they love you, a membership to Woodie’s Wash Club might be the perfect gift that keeps on giving. While a car wash might not be the epitome of romance, a membership could be the perfect gift to show your person that you’re committed and that sometimes it’s the little things in life—like the convenience of keeping your ride clean, organized, and shiny. Woodie’s Wash Club might be the key that keeps your romance running!
Legacy of Love
If you’re Valentine this year is your furry friend, or you and your partner are both animal lovers, joining SPCA Tampa Bay’s Communal Pet Trust could be the ultimate act of love and service. The Legacy of Love is a pooled pet trust that helps ensure the proper care is given to our pets if we are ever unable to care for them. Or, if you’re looking for other ways to get involved and offer help, check out their adoption page!
Words of Affirmation
Finally, sometimes the most effective way to tell someone you love them—and one we might forget about from time to time, is simple—tell them. Exchanging “I love you’s” helps remind each other how much you care. Whether it’s right before you hang up the phone, or after they surprise you with a Massage Studio gift card, these words affirm your love and your gratitude for each other!
